Jackie
Let me introduce myself, my barn name is Jackie. I know I am one of the bigger gals here, but please don't be intimidated by my large stature - 17 hands to be exact! I am a very quiet, laid back Shire/Thoroughbred cross. My registered name is Onassia, but please call me Jackie - we are very informal around here. I love to be groomed and could stand for hours enjoying all the attention. I was donated in October of 2009 by Allison Robbins of Chardon. Allison spent lots of time training me for dressage and we even did a few schooling shows. Allison is now off to college and doesn't have the kind of time she use to have for me. She wants me to be happy and be working, so she donated me here. She knows how much I enjoy working and that it helps keep me in shape. I have a little arthritis in my left hock, but that is expected at my age and size. I was born in 1993, but I think I look wonderful for my age. I must say, I move very elegantly for such a big horse; must have been all the training. I have nice transitions and respond well to my leader. I think my most favorite thing will be working in the independent classes- then I can really show off.
I stand like a rock in the mounting block. However, I am still working on all the activities/games in the ring. Those balls and bean bags sure can be intimidating; I'll have to work on that some more. Oh well, no horse is perfect; I have plenty of other positive attributes. Because my legs are longer, I do have more of an active walk both inside and outside on the trail. And speaking of walk, I like to go out back on the trail. The wooded trail is great because there are lots of things to look at out there. One thing I prefer not to see is a cart or carriage - yikes -they make me a little nervous. I don't want anyone getting any ideas of hooking me up to one of "those things"; I prefer riding. I will meet you all soon I am sure. Then you can experience for yourself my nice ground manners and personality. Another thing to remember about me is that I sometimes need a reminder about my personal space. You may think I am being pushy but, I just love to be around people so much I forget how close I am walking to you sometimes.
