FIELDSTONE FARM

Little Victories... Big Impact

Mac

Mac the Horse

Hi all! My name is Mac. I am a black Percheron/ Standardbred cross gelding. Pretty unique combination, huh? I look more like a Percheron, but just not as large as some of the other guys around here. Don't get me wrong, I am a solid 16 hand fellow. Prior to being donated by Jill and Richard Graft of Navarre, I was predominantly driven. I have driven all over the place- around the farm, on the road and in the woods.

I sure do love to drive. I am so good, I was even hitched with other horses to teach them how to drive. I do like to be ridden too, preferably on trail rides. But I must say that driving is my forte! I still have a lot of useful years ahead of me, I am in my "prime" right now. Believe it or not I was born in 1996. I am a little out of shape right now, but I am quickly getting back into the swing of things. Please make sure to come check me out. I may not see you in a lot of riding lessons, since I will be busy driving. I hear that I will be helping Durango with some of the carriage driving lessons. I am so excited to be here.

My friend from home is here too, Rooster. It is nice to see him again.

A few things about me that I would like you to know. I love to be groomed and stand like a statue. However, I have arthritis in my left rear ankle which limits how much I can flex it. When you are picking my hooves, which by the way are not as large as you might think, you may notice that my left rear ankle is thicker than the right. This is normal for me. I am a big, easy going guy and lead very well. I am new to this ring work, I guess you could say I am a little green. I will need your help staying on the rail and oh, one big important thing- I respond very well to voice commands, so please tell me what you want me to do. I learn quickly. You will notice that when I am being ridden I tend to move slow and I do not exert a lot of energy for trotting. Please make sure you tell me to trot and have your rider give me a little cue. I love all the activities in the ring, but more so enjoy being outside. You will notice, I walk a little faster on the trail. Well, I guess that is enough about me. See you soon!
