Riderships:
Fieldstone Farm relies on donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to support the program. A "Ridership" is the means by which Fieldstone Farm provides financial assistance to clients and families unable to pay the full lesson fee. Many families are unable to pay even the subsidized fee. Riderships are instrumental in making equine-enriched educational opportunities for people with disabilities available to everyone. At Fieldstone Farm, we know that families with children or adults with disabilities incur additional expenses for equipment, special diets, therapies, tutoring, and a variety of other costs not covered by insurance. Our belief in the therapeutic value of our programs drives us to secure funding to ensure that no client misses out on this opportunity because of funding limitations. It is our policy that no client is turned away due to inability to pay his or her lesson fees.
In 2008, Fieldstone Farm provided 15,408 chargeable lessons. Each lesson costs $74 (based upon the 2007 audit). Clients were charged $31 per lesson, therefore, $43 of each lesson is subsidized which amounts to $662,544. In addition to this subsidy, students/families requested an additional $93,044 to cover the portion of the fee that they were unable to afford. Our total project expense for the Ridership Program in 2008 was $755,588. In 2009, we do anticipate that we may see an increased need due to offsite programming cutbacks at our sending institutions as well as an increased need from our individual clients due to the unstable financial climate.
Annual Fund/unrestricted:
Unrestricted donations allow us to use the funds donated to accomplish our mission. We appreciate your support.
Endowment:
As of April 30, 2009 the fund total was $2,353,170. Due to recent economic conditions, we have seen a significant decline in our endowment value. The endowment campaign continues in an effort to build this fund to a total of $5 million. We have 100% board participation. Increasing the endowment in the TRC Foundation increases the financial security of Fieldstone Farm, helps keep lesson fees at an affordable level and ensures the future success of our programs.

Ride-A-Thon - This annual ride or walk in October is at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills. Join over 200 equestrians for a beautiful trail ride. Raise pledges and make a difference in the lives of riders with disabilities. Also visit our used tack sale for great bargains on gently used riding apparel and tack.
