Spring Swing Saturday May 30th Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field
It was another beautiful evening for this elegant evening of exhilarating polo, refreshing cocktails and savory hors d'oeuvres. Guests watched and placed bets on our hometown polo team in a demonstration match against a visiting team at the Cleveland Metroparks polo field. Attended by over 200 people, this event raised $39,000. Thanks to all those who supported this event; you make a difference!
Hay Day, Saturday September 19th White North Stables
A great time was had by all at this year's Hay Day Party. The historic and beautiful White North Stables in Hunting Valley provided the perfect venue for our annual fundraiser attended by 250 people. Hay Day is one of our largest fundraisers and all proceeds benefit the students and programs at Fieldstone Farm.
The evening featured an "Extreme Trailability" competition emceed by Rich Bradshaw of R.B. Arena in Burton, Ohio. Four teams competed for best time and skill maneuvering their horse through a series of obstacles intended to mimic that which they could come across on a trial ride in the Metroparks. The two riders per team represented area riding groups as follows:
- Stu & Mindi Steiger of Chagrin Valley Trails & Riding Club
- Tracy Baker & Laura Webster, White North Stables
- Terese Evans & Jane Geisse, Fieldstone Farm
- Kevin Ellison & Kathy Goss, The Chagrin Valley Hunt
The Fieldstone Farm team of Jane Geisse and Terese Evans won the competition with an optimal combined time of 5.52 minutes.
Sammy's catered the event with a sit-down dinner in the indoor arena. The band Decade, featuring lead singer "Double D" took the stage after dinner for dancing and great music.
30th Annual Ride-A-Thon 2009 Sunday, October 4th
The chilly weather did not deter more than 150 riders and their horses from the 30th year of our annual Ride-A-Thon. Participants took to the beautiful Metroparks trails and raised nearly $25,000 in pledges to support our programs.
The weekend's activities also included a used tack sale on Saturday and Sunday. Area "horse-people" donate gently used tack and riding apparel to us throughout the year. All proceeds from the tack sale support our equine programs.
"We attract riders from all over Northeast Ohio to this event. For some this was their first year, for others their 30th year! This year, we added a lead-line trail for our young fundraisers. Our trailabilty course is so popular and keeps getting better," said Sue Prokop, event Chairperson.
For a $50 minimum pledge, riders enjoyed a day of great times with their horse and friends riding the marked trails, maneuvering through the trailability course and recapping the day's events during lunch in the pavilion.
Our students also participated in the fundraiser by riding a special course during their class time the week prior and raised more than $6,800 in pledges.
All proceeds from these events will support the programs at Fieldstone Farm TRC.
