George

Well hello everyone!  My name is George.  I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Fieldstone Farm team.  I have made so many friends and my best friend is Nick.  We are quite the pair in turnout.  Nick is a 13 hand Haflinger and I am a 16.3 hand Oldenburg.  Quite the sight, right?

So let me tell you a little about myself.  My show name is “Midnight Run.”  I am a retired jumper.  Shortly after that career ended, the George family found me (hence my name) and I taught their daughters all that I know.  I was their first horse so when it was time for me to have another career it was a difficult decision for them.

I was donated to Fieldstone in February of 2017.  I am such a special guy that they wanted the perfect place for me to show off my talent.  Well, they did well because I found a perfect fit here at Fieldstone.  I’m such a lucky guy.  I went from being a successful show horse to a loving family and now to this great place with so many ways that I can give back and teach.  I have been ridden by both children and adults.  I have even competed in IEA shows.  I am so popular that the Hudson IEA team came to see me and take pictures at my new home; they are so proud of me.  I won’t let them down.  I never want to let anyone down, I always try to please; I have such a strong work ethic.

I just love all the attention I receive here.  I am quite the big fella, but don’t be intimated by my size.  I am very laid back and easy to get along with.  I love to be groomed and that’s a good thing because I can find a mud puddle in a drought!  You will see just how dirty I can get.  I give “muddy” a new definition.

I look great for my age, if I do say so myself.  I was born in 1995 and with that age comes lots of knowledge. I am easy to lead.  You will see that I adjust my speed according to how you walk or trot.  Please do not put lots of pressure on my head as you lead me; it is not necessary.  I am very polite, will stay in my space and will lead for you nicely.  I do like verbal cues.  It helps me to understand what you’re asking of me.  The activities in the ring are entertaining, but I do like to work so I think I will be working with more independent riders.  I am a steady, reliable guy; you will see. Speaking of seeing, I can’t wait to get outside on those sensory courses and trails.  I haven’t been out there yet.  Something else new for me to checkout.

Well, I could ramble on and on, but I do look forward to meeting you soon!  I am sure I will be one of the favorites.  How could you resist my big loveable face and personality?

I almost forgot, please do not pick my rear hooves.  I am a little stiff behind and it’s easier for me to pick them up and hold them when I don’t have to balance in the cross ties.  No worries, the Equine Director will take care of them in the morning.
