Frequently Asked Questions
Is riding safe?
Our therapy horses are extensively evaluated by a team of professionals before being accepted into the program. Additionally, all riders are assisted by volunteer helpers who are also trained in this field. All riders wear ASTM-SEI helmets for all equine activities.
What should my child wear?
Long pants and closed toed shoes are required for riding. No shorts, sandals or dangling jewelry. Hairstyles must fit under helmets.
Why should I fill out all this paperwork for a pony ride?
A common misconception is that a day at Fieldstone Farm TRC is a "field trip" or a "pony ride." In fact, Fieldstone Farm TRC provides goal oriented, equine-based activities that complement the goals provided by you and/or your child's teacher. Classes include physical, cognitive, and psychosocial objectives based on the various needs of each student. All completed paperwork is necessary for participation in our programs.
