Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteer opportunities at Fieldstone Farm. Currently, we are accepting applications to serve primarily in our morning and early afternoon programs. It takes more than 200 volunteers per week to run our program, and more than 600 volunteers donate their time to our program annually.
Our dedicated core of volunteers provide consistent hands-on support to our clients that makes the Fieldstone Farm experience one of the best in the nation. If you believe you have what it takes to become one of our 'keystone' volunteers, please fill out the on-line application.
I look forward to meeting you,
Melissa Hauserman
Volunteer Director
In 2010, approximately 700 volunteers donated 22,222 hours of service to therapeutic riding at Fieldstone Farm. Using the Independent Sector's approved value of a volunteer hour ($20.83) our volunteers contributed $463,329 worth of service to our program.
Riding Lesson Volunteers tack horses and work as leaders (horse handlers) or side-walkers (providing verbal encouragement and/or physical support to the rider) throughout classes.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities:
Barn Volunteers assist with grooming and saddling horses for lessons. They also help with sweeping floors, cob webbing, cleaning water troughs, general cleaning, maintenance, painting and other barn responsibilities.
Board of Trustees and Special Committees are made up entirely of volunteers who spend countless hours supporting our program and planning for its growth and advancement into the future.
Carriage Driving Volunteers commit to a lengthy training process. They learn how to assist with harnessing a carriage horse, long lining, and some even drive a horse-drawn carriage.
Equine Adventure Club Volunteers work with summer campers participating in daily riding lessons, barn activities, art projects, nature activities and more.
Barn/Classroom Lessons Volunteers work with instructors and students in unmounted activities, helping students learn about horse care and participate in art, crafts and other educational activities.
Maintenance Volunteers help keep our facility running smoothly and looking good by assisting with cleaning, trash removal, mowing, weeding, light carpentry and other "handyman"-type jobs.
Office Volunteers help with all types of projects, such as sorting and stapling, making phone calls, addressing envelopes, filing and more.
Special Event Volunteers help plan our fundraising events or work as volunteers on the day of the event.
We appreciate each volunteer's dedication of time and energy. Without these generous people, very few of our riders would have the opportunity to mount up and "walk on!"
