Horse and rider in sync

June 30, 2020 — When riding a horse, we strive for a partnership as we trot through a pattern, enjoy a trail ride or navigate a perfectly round circle. To learn more about the bond between horse and rider, we partnered with the Equus Foundation and Hylofit and simultaneously monitored heart rates as riders and horses walked, trotted and cantered together. Would the heart rates be similar? As expected, they rose and fell as riders and horses moved at different gaits. But they also changed at the same rate and proportions. What does this tell us? That the horse and rider are perfectly responding to each other, completely in sync. But could it also mean that riding together not only improves the wellbeing of the rider, but also the horse? To learn more about what we learned using Hylofit click here to check out our summary.
